Steps required to download/install the hIOmon Trial Version

     1)  Fill out the download request form.

The hIOmon Trial Version requires a serial number key for the installation of the hIOmon software.  To obtain the required serial number key, simply fill out and submit a short download request form.  This form requires a minimum amount of information from you (in accordance with our privacy policy).  After submitting the download request form, a confirmation page will be displayed that includes the required serial number key.  When you are prompted for a serial number (during the hIOmon installation process - step 4 below), please be sure to correctly enter this serial number key.

Click on the "Go download now" button above to fill out and submit the download request form (but please first read the following steps explained below).

     2)  Download the hIOmon Trial Version software.

After you have successfully submitted the download request form (step 1 above), you will be able to download the hIOmon Trial Version software.  Simply save the hIOmon Trial Version software to a file directory on your computer.

NOTE:

The hIOmon Trial Version software is provided in a zip (compressed) file format that requires approximately twenty-two megabytes (22 MB) of available disk space.  You will also need an additional 22 MB of disk space to extract (unzip) the hIOmon Trial Version software.

3Extract (unzip) the hIOmon Trial Version installation files.

After you have successfully completed step 2 above (that is, downloaded the hIOmon Trial Version software to a file directory on your computer), extract (unzip) the files contained within the downloaded hIOmon Trial Version software zip file.  You can extract the files by simply opening the downloaded hIOmon Trial Version software zip file (which is a self-extracting zip file) and clicking on the "Extract" button.

     4)  Install the hIOmon Trial Version software.

To perform the actual installation of the hIOmon Trial Version software, first run the "setup.exe" file which is included amongst the files extracted in step 3 above.  Running the "setup.exe" file invokes the hIOmon Installer software, which in turn makes use of the Microsoft Windows Installer to perform the first step of the hIOmon software installation process.  When the welcome screen opens, follow the instructions on the screen.  Please be sure to correctly enter the serial number key (from step 1 above) when prompted for a serial number.

Also please be sure to carefully read the hyperI/O LLC Software License Agreement (EUSLA) for the conditions and terms associated with the use of the hIOmon Trial Version software.  You must agree to this EUSLA to successfully install and use the hIOmon Trial Version software.

The hIOmon Installation ReadMe file is also displayed during the installation process.  This ReadMe file provides detailed information about the hIOmon installation requirements and process.

NOTE:  The overall installation of the hIOmon Trial Version software requires the following:

  1. Install the hIOmon Trial Version software components (by running the "setup.exe" file as mentioned above).

  2. For Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2008/R2, the hIOmon Manager and hIOmon I/O Monitor software components must be loaded/installed as services.  The Windows® Installer installation process (noted above) provides several "Custom Installation Options", one of which is to automatically load these hIOmon software components as part of the Windows Installer installation process.  This is a recommended option that is enabled by default.  If, however, you elect not to perform this "automatic load" as part of the Windows Installer installation process, then you must run the "Manually Load the hIOmon Manager and IO Monitor" shortcut that is provided within the "hIOmonSI" directory where the hIOmon software was installed; note again in this case that this shortcut must be run before you can use the hIOmon software.

As an additional "Custom Installation Option", you can also invoke the hIOmon "Automated Monitoring Configuration Setup Script" as part of the Windows Installer installation process for the hIOmon software.  This VBScript enables you to quickly create a simple Filter Selection, which will automatically be loaded/activated, along with one or more hIOmon Manager Export Files to which the I/O operation metrics collected by hIOmon will be exported in real-time and within a CSV-file format.  Please see the AMCSS page for additional details.

The AMCSS script also supports the "hIOmon Add-Ons" so that you can invoke a selected hIOmon Add-On immediately as part of the hIOmon software installation process.

  3. Install the Sun Java Virtual Machine (which is only required for the hIOmon Presentation Client).  If you do not use the hIOmon Presentation Client or already have a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6.0 (or higher) installed, then you do not need to perform this step.

Please refer to the hIOmon Installation ReadMe file for specific details regarding the hIOmon installation process.  Click on the "Program -> hIOmon -> Documentation -> readMe.pdf" menu shortcut (accessible through the Windows desktop "Start" button) to view the hIOmon Installation ReadMe document.

NOTE:

To install the hIOmon Trial Version software on Windows 7, Vista, XP, Server 2003, or Server 2008/R2, you must log on with Administrator privileges.

Once you have completed the installation of the hIOmon Trial Version software following the process outlined above, you can perform a simple set of basic steps to start using hIOmon.  Please refer to the steps described in the “Getting Started – Quick Start” section of the “hIOmon User Guide” (HMG-1093), which is installed within the “Documents” directory as “hIOmonUserGuide.pdf”.  FAQs regarding installation and getting-started topics are available.

Also please be sure to read the "Major How-To's" chapter within the hIOmon User Guide document - and check out the online "Getting Started Tutorials"!

And please read the "Read This First!!!" by using the "Start -> Programs -> hIOmon -> Getting Started Help -> Read This First!!!" shortcut, which will display a hIOmon Help html page that includes important information to help you get started using the hIOmon software.
